Realtor® · Here Realty, Cranston RI

I sell homes in Rhode Island and southern Massachusetts. Most of my work is in Providence and Cranston. South Kingstown is the runner-up, and Rhode Island I just have down.

Almost all of my clients come from word of mouth. People know how I work and how I hustle, and the word of mouth keeps going. I'm in it for the long haul.

How I got here

Before real estate, I was a full-time performing musician and a part-time barista. I had years of restaurant experience before that, front of the house, back of the house, management, really everything.

I played my last three live gigs the second weekend of March 2020. By that Monday every show was cancelled, the cafe was closed, and music doesn't qualify for unemployment. I tried streaming concerts. It paid a little but it wasn't sustainable and it didn't feel rewarding.

So I picked up handyman work. Painting, landscaping, fixing cars. I wasn't great at any of it, but I had hustle and I was relentless. I was out there talking to people, promoting myself online, getting little jobs wherever I could.

One day I was working for a woman who turned out to be a realtor. She told me I should get into real estate. I asked a few friends in the business what the job was actually like. Nobody could tell me. So I took the class, got my license, and figured the rest out on the floor.

My first deal

Sunday afternoon, 2 p.m., COVID times. A buyer from Waltham walks into an open house. He has no agent in Rhode Island, so the loan officer Mike calls his first pick. She doesn't pick up. I do.

The listing agent had set a 5 p.m. offer deadline. I had no idea how to write a purchase and sale agreement. I called every agent in my office. Most of them weren't around on a Sunday. I finally got the woman who'd brought me into the business on the phone, and she walked me through it.

We won the bid. The deal fell through on inspection, but we found my client another house pretty quickly and closed.

Mike was a friend from the music scene. He used to bring his wife and kids to my shows and enjoy some of the songs. That kind of connection is how most of my deals start, and that's why the word of mouth keeps going. The combination of results and networking is what gets it done.

How I work

I'm not the agent who texts you every week to ask if you're ready to sell yet. If you tell me you're thinking about selling sometime in the next two years, I'll be ready when you are. I'm here to serve my clients, not the other way around.

What I'm good at is taking work off your plate. Cleaning, junk removal, project management with contractors, photography, staging. Selling without lifting a finger isn't a slogan I picked because it sounded nice. It's the goal.

When you reach out, I respond within 2 to 4 hours. There's nothing to lose from calling me and only something to gain.

Services I bring to every listing

When you list with me you get more than a sign in the yard. I'm dedicated to taking on everything. The point is to put as many burdens on my back as I can so you get through this without it putting tension on your family or personal life.

Outside of real estate

My family moved to Rhode Island when I was five. That was almost 38 years ago, so I'll go ahead and call myself a native. I grew up in South Kingstown, live in Providence, and own in Cranston.

When I'm not selling houses, I play guitar. Jazz, Spanish, Latin, Brazilian. I sing old jazz standards, and I sing bass in the St. Michael's choir. I play chess, I play pool, and I've been playing Magic: The Gathering again after taking about 20 years off. I read. I'm at the gym.

I'm conversational in Spanish, which has been useful on tours where the buyers don't speak much English. Real-estate Spanish I have down. South American politics is a different story.

If you meet me in person, Lord of the Rings will come up. The Gollum voice is decent.

What clients say

Dave is wonderful to work with! He helped us with selling our home. He's extremely knowledgeable of the market and kept us up to speed on changes and tips to make our sale more appealing. He's friendly and very respectful. The best realtor we've worked with! Would do 6 stars if possible!

William B., Seller

Dave was an island of calm and competence during the highly stressful period of prepping my house for sale. He was super responsive at all times, and kept up a very grounded but positive outlook even when things didn't go quite as planned. I'm very grateful to him for the support and guidance, as well as for the excellent results of the sale process.

Susan B., Seller

Dave was nothing short of exceptional in his service and dedication to me and my family when finding a home. His support and knowledge were extremely helpful and we will definitely be recommending Dave to friends and family in the future.
